Vumbura Plains Camp

A premier safari camp, Vumbura Plains Camp is a contemporary and unique retreat deep in the Okavango Delta. The camp comprises of two satellite camps, North and South Camp, each with its own lounge and dining areas nestled under a canopy of shady trees. Both camps have magnificent views over the Okavango Delta. Both camps, and the sister camp of Little Vumbura, are run semi independently on the Vumbura Reserve. Vumbura Plains South Camp has six tents and Vumbura Plains North Camp has eight units. Each tent has a luxurious contemporary design, under thatch on a raised deck. On both sides the tents are connected by raised walk ways. Each tent has en-suite facilities, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, private plunge pools, tea and coffee making facilities, and a private lounge and deck where guests can watch the ever changing vista of the Okavango. Each tent also has an outside shower with fantastic views!

 The Vumbura Concession is a private area in the northern Okavango Delta, providing a diverse mosaic of habitats. Permanent swamps and small palm islands give way to seasonal floodplains, acacia woodlands and mopane stands. Vumbura Plains camp is known for its scenic beauty and diversity of wildlife. Red Lechwe, Waterbuck, Hippos, Crocodiles, as well as Sable, Kudu, Wildebeest and Tsessebe roam the open plains. On game drives Sable is often seen more than Impala! Herds of Buffalo and Elephant occur here, along with the predators – Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog and Cheetah.  Elephant are found all year round but peak roughly from May till late Oct. Lion are seen regularly and it is a good area for Leopard and Wild Dogs. Plains game is good year round but peaks in the dry months.
